Today’s climate of rapid change challenges Tennessee residents and communities. The state’s citizens need training and targeted education on an array of issues that span agriculture and resource development, family and consumer sciences, and youth development. Communities, particularly ones in rural areas, need technical assistance in economic development.
UT Extension has the capacity and reach to make enormous impacts in Tennessee on these issues. Each year Extension agents and specialists make an average of 4.5 million personal contacts in the state as they assist Tennessee citizens. Increasing the capacity of nine proven programs of excellence will allow UT Extension to focus and expand its programming on issues of critical importance to Tennessee residents and communities.
