The National Association of County Agricultural Agents recently recognized Tom Hill, a fisheries specialist with the department of forestry, wildlife and fisheries, with its Distinguished Service Award. This award is among the highest honors bestowed by the NACAA. It is reserved for past recipients of the state association distinguished service awards. Hill joined the University of Tennessee faculty in August 1978, and his responsibilities include managing educational programs in fisheries and aquaculture for the entire state for both adult and youth audiences. He also works with industry organizations, national and state agencies and consumer groups. He has authored numerous Extension publications, fact sheets, feature articles and news stories about fisheries and aquaculture. Hill is an active member of the American Fisheries Society through which he is a certified fisheries scientist. Other memberships include Gamma Sigma Delta, the Honor Society of Agriculture; Sigma Xi; Epsilon Sigma Phi; and the Tennessee Aquaculture Association.
