UT Hosts New Event for Green Industry Professionals

The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture is hosting a new event especially for green industry professionals. Slated for June 29 at the University of Tennessee Gardens in Knoxville, the Summer Color Field Day is designed to promote the professional exchange of information about all aspects of using plants to create great color combinations in Tennessee landscapes.

This new field day includes a trade show, educational walks in the gardens and presentations that will discuss such topics as industry variety trials, weed and disease and pest control in color beds, lawn management and color theory for landscapes. UT's turf researchers will also conduct a tour of ongoing species and variety evaluations.

The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and run until approximately 4:00 p.m. Tennessee pesticide applicator re-certification points will be available in categories 3, 10 and 12.

Landscape service professionals, greenhouse and nursery operators, retailers, lawn care professionals, plant breeders, green industry suppliers, grounds managers, and Master Gardeners will find the program educational as well as an excellent and affordable business investment.

Registration, which includes lunch, is $25 per person until June 22. After June 22 the cost to register will be $30 per person and a lunch reservation may not be available. For a complete copy of the program, including directions to the UT Gardens, visit the Web site http://knoxville.tennessee.edu or contact your local county agricultural Extension agent.
