Horse Management College Set for the Sweetwater Valley
   

(MADISONVILLE, Tenn.) - A five-week horse management course is set to begin January 19.

The annual Sweetwater Valley Horse College, sponsored by the Eastern Region of University of Tennessee Extension, UT Department of Animal Science, Monroe County Extension and cooperating counties in the area will be held January 19, 26, February 9, 16 and 23.

Topics for this course are stallion feeding and management, forages for horses, parasites, toxic plants and how to select horse professionals.

Speakers are Dr. Frederick Harper, UT Department of Animal Science Extension horse specialist; Dr. Gary Bates, UT Extension forage specialist; Mr. Bob Sliger, Monroe County Extension Director; Dr. Craig Reinemeyer, president of East Tennessee Clinical Research; and Dr. Larry Kerr, UT College of Veterinary Medicine.

The college will meet in the Lower Conference Room of the Rymer Student Center, Hiwassee College Campus, Madisonville. Cost of the course is $20 per person. Registration includes the lecture series, handout materials, notebook and refreshments. The two-hour per session program begins at 7 p.m. Individuals who want to register on January 19 or subsequent nights are urged to arrive at 6:30 p.m.
