(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) – Looking for a new hobby? Curious about beekeeping? Here's a honey of a deal. University of Tennessee Extension and the UT Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology will offer beginners' classes on beekeeping at the UT Institute of Agriculture campus starting June 19. The Tennessee Beemaster Program is an educational beekeeping school. The Hobbyist Level is an entry-level class designed to provide information on how to become a successful beekeeper. The classes will be taught by Dr. John Skinner and Mr. Michael Studer of UT Extension. The program will consist of four sessions from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. on June 19, 20, 22, and 23, concluding with a field day on Saturday, June 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The classes will be held in Room 166 of the Biosystems Engineering and Soil Science (formerly the Biosystems Engineering and Environmental Science) Building at the corner of Joe Johnson Drive and Chapman Drive. A map is available online at http://www.tennessee.edu/maps/ Class size is limited, so pre-registration is strongly recommended. The cost is $50.
