Software Course Offered for Farmers, Businesses

 

 

Effective management of any business, including a farm, requires accurate and detailed records so managers can make informed decisions affecting their profitability.

A computer record-keeping program that can assist with tax preparation as well as making production decisions is Quicken®, and several University of Tennessee Extension offices in East Tennessee will be offering training sessions for interested producers and business owners.

Topics to be covered include setting up a file, entering transactions, reconciling accounts and reading financial reports. Area offices offering the program include:

Anderson Co., Oct. 1, at the Anderson County Extension Office
Jefferson Co., Oct. 3, at the Jefferson County Extension Office
Roane Co., Oct. 4, at the Kingston Public Library
Cumberland Co., Oct. 11, at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds - Youth Exhibit Bldg.
Grainger Co., Oct. 16, at the Rutledge Community Center
Meigs Co., Oct. 18, at the Meigs County Extension Office

The fee for this course is $35 for up to two participants from each farm or business. The fee includes course materials, break refreshments and the use of a laptop computer for the session. Space is limited in each session.
