Solutions for Dairy Producers To Be Featured at
March Field Day

 

 

(LEWISBURG, Tenn.) –– Practical solutions for problems facing dairy operations will be discussed during a field day on Wednesday, March 26, at the University of Tennessee Dairy Research and Education Center.

Field day sessions are open to the public and will include a discussion led by Dr. John Bernard, a professor of animal science from the University of Georgia, on feeding options during drought conditions and record high feed prices. Dr. Fred Hopkins, UT professor of animal science and a
veterinarian, will discuss the importance of animal welfare. Kristy Campbell, UT Extension dairy specialist, will review options for improving milk quality in Tennessee.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the first session will begin at 9:00. The field day is free and lunch will be served. To pre-register, telephone the Dairy Research and Education Center at (931) 270-2240.

The Dairy Experiment Station is one of 10 research units in the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station system. It is located south of Nashville near Lewisburg. If coming from the south, take exit 22 from I-65 and travel on U.S. Hwy 31A for approximately 8 miles. Turn on New Lake Road at the
sign for the Research and Education Center. If coming from the north, take exit 37 off I-65 onto Highway 50. Follow Highways 50 and then 431 toward Lewisburg, then turn south on U.S. Hwy 31A. Turn on New Lake Road at the sign for the Research and Education Center.
