(Milan, TN) On Saturday October 18th, thousands of visitors will flock to the West Tennessee Agricultural Museum and UT AgResearch and Education Center at Milan for the 10th annual Fall Folklore Jamboree.  Those in attendance at the all-day event can catch a glimpse of the past as more than 100 folk artists demonstrate rare and unique farming, cooking, and traditional skills.  And the sounds of yesteryear will fill the air as award-winning gospel and bluegrass bands perform.

"The Jamboree is a great opportunity for us to gather with the community and celebrate our heritage," said Blake Brown, director of the UT AgResearch and Education Center at Milan. "Each year we've seen the jamboree grow, and this year's event promises to be the best ever."

Throughout the day, skilled craftsmen will demonstrate traditional weaving, knitting, wood carving, blacksmithing, plus more.  Visitors can see horse plowing and logging, as well as a working grist mill, and ride in a horse-drawn wagon.  Traditional folk story-telling will be a new feature this year, and attendees can still delight in the melodic sounds of time-honored music from bands like Stone County Connection and The Appletons.  And those who get hungry can sample fresh apple cider and old-fashioned kettle corn made right on the grounds.

Each year the Jamboree is held at the West Tennessee Agricultural Museum, located on Highway 70/79 in Milan.  The museum houses a vast collection of agricultural artifacts that tell the history of rural development in Tennessee.  During the Jamboree, visitors are free to tour the museum to learn more about the agrarian lifestyle of the past.

The Fall Folklore Jamboree runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., rain or shine.  Admission is $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for children ages 3-12, and free for children under the age of two.
