UT Gardens Weekly Books and Blooms’ Continues Through July 30

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Books and Blooms at the UT Gardens is coming to a close, but there are still five more fun-filled programs to attend in the month of July!  The area’s finest storytellers, surrounded by the beauty of the garden, will tell stories and perform book readings that are sure to entertain and educate.

This free event is held each Thursday at 10:30 a.m., rain or shine, through July 30. The Gardens has expanded the summer program to include more educational activities and more fun for everyone.

Afterwards kids can participate in craft time or enjoy or sprinkler time during warmer weather. Dress the kids in their swimsuits to enjoy this fun, cooling-off treat and don’t forget a towel and sunscreen. If weather permits, the book readings will be held in the Outdoor Classroom area of the Gardens.

Parents are welcome to take a self-guided tour, bring a picnic lunch or just soak up the sun in the garden afterwards.

Be sure to stop by the garden entrance on your way in to pick up a parking permit to place in your windshield. Parking is available in the lot directly across from the garden entrance.

The University of Tennessee Gardens located in Knoxville and Jackson are part of the UT Institute of Agriculture. Their mission is to foster appreciation, education and stewardship of plants through garden displays, collections, educational programs and research trials. Some 4,000 annuals, perennials, herbs, tropicals, trees, shrubs, vegetables and ornamental grasses are evaluated each year. Both gardens are Tennessee Certified Arboreta and American Conifer Society Reference Gardens. The gardens are open during all seasons and free to the public.
