Precision Ag Conference Scheduled
Cotton Focus includes sessions on precision agriculture
JACKSON, Tenn. — Row crop farmers take note: the University of Tennessee has scheduled a precision agriculture conference to complement the annual Cotton Focus. Both are scheduled for Thursday, February 10, 2011, at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center.
The Precision Agriculture Conference, which will be held in the afternoon following the Cotton Focus, will feature UT researchers and Extension specialists as well as private producers and experts from Auburn University. Topics include improving production economics, GPS equipment and accuracy, integrating auto-guidance into your farming operation, options for obtaining RTK-GPS corrections in Tennessee, and on-the-go nutrient sensing.
Cotton Focus features presentations from UT AgResearch and Extension specialists containing new information on topics such as cotton budgets, weed control systems, seeding rates, insect management and cotton variety selection and performance.
UT Extension Cotton Specialist Chris Main says educational opportunities like Cotton Focus and the Precision Ag Conference help producers stay competitive. Both events are free of charge to participants.
Registration for Cotton Focus 2011 begins at 8:30 a.m. The program will conclude at 1:00 p.m. and Pesticide points and Certified Crop Advisor Points will be available to participants. The Precision Ag Conference will be held from 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
