Award Description
This award, provided by the Institute of Agriculture Administration, is given to a recipient among the professional and other academic employees who has contributed most to the attainment of the objectives of the Institute of Agriculture.
Citation
The 2004 award winner is Debbie Landau Ellis, an individual who is credited with doing the most to help the UT Ag Institute achieve its objectives and goals. She has been at the University of Tennessee for almost twenty years, since her days as a grad student.
Presently serving as a research associate in the department of plant sciences where she specializes in the soybean breeding project, her outstanding career also includes time in research in plant molecular genetics.
Praised for her leadership of undergraduate student research assistants, as well as the guidance she gives in coordinating graduate student thesis research, she is also noted for her initiative in organizing the soybean breeding program, and for her excellent communication skills in passing on this valuable information to others.
