Citation

Chuck Danehower, this year’s award winner, is approaching his 20th year with UT Extension. During that time, he has worked to keep farmers in business – serving as a farm management specialist in eight west Tennessee counties, right in the heart of the state’s biggest row crop area.

Chuck is proactive in developing farm management plans and educational materials for farmers, Extension agents, and landowners. He is known for his communications skills and ability as a presenter on the county, region and state level. His “can-do” attitude has led to several important leadership positions – including the Committee for AgStar program, Cotton Focus and the West Tennessee Risk Management committee.

Recently he has been active in work with irrigation projects, coordinating Tennessee’s participation in the Ag Market network – and now in educating producers about the potential for soybean rust. He is held in high regard by his co-workers, industry officials and many, many Tennessee farmers.
