Citation

This award was presented to a group that comprises UT’s Cloning Team. Its members are Lannett Edwards, Fred Hopkins, Steve Oliver, Neal Schrick, and Sarel Van Amstel.

This well-organized and dedicated team has brought tremendous recognition to the Ag Institute on a local, national and international scale. For these team members, their remarkable achievements in this cutting-edge research benefits dairy producers worldwide. In particular, this group’s work with clones expands scientific knowledge about the disease mastitis – and genetic factors that cause this problem – which is a two billion dollar a year loss to agriculture nationally.

This group works with cloned animals not just for the sake of cloning, but as a means to address real-world problems facing agriculture, and to improve the lives of consumers. Teamwork is often an over-stated term, but in this case – each member of this group makes a valuable contribution to UT’s amazing cloning effort.
