Webster Pendergrass Outstanding Service Award

Award Description

This award, presented in memory of Webster Pendergrass, former Vice President of Agriculture, recognizes a teaching, research or Extension faculty member who has contributed most to the fulfillment of the Institute's goals and objectives. Presented by Mrs. Betty Eliassen, the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Webster Pendergrass.

Citation

Dr. Jim Brace, our 2005 winner, has been with the UT College of Veterinary Medicine since 1977, and was named to his current post – Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in 1994. Dr. Brace is an accomplished Veterinarian and teacher, recognized nationally for his contributions to Veterinary medicine.

As Associate Dean, he directs the Vet school’s academic program, including continuing education for practicing vets statewide. He handles many responsibilities including the semester class and rotation scheduling, developing curriculum formats and academic accreditations. He is well-respected and admired by faculty and students, and has distinguished himself as an outstanding clinician, teacher and administrator. And perhaps most importantly, Dr. Brace has served as a mentor to each and every student who has earned a DVM from the college in the past 28 years.
